End Flock/ALPR in Santa Clara County
When: Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 1pm
Where: Board of Supervisors Chambers at 70 West Hedding Street, San Jose, CA
Who: Residents of Santa Clara County
What: Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs), often known by a common vendor’s name as “Flock cameras,” are a type of surveillance technology that makes our community less safe. Saratoga, Cupertino, and Los Altos Hills do not have their own police departments. The law enforcement function in these cities is carried out by the Office of the Sheriff. Saratoga and Cupertino have contracts with Flock but the Office of the Sheriff operates the Flock. Agenda item 8 of the Board of Supervisors meeting to be held on February 24 seeks to approve the Surveillance Use Policy that governs the use of ALPR in these three jurisdictions. We encourage you to urge the Board of Supervisors to vote "no" on item 8 and end the use of ALPR by delivering public comments.
